To be clear, I am very proud of my dad and his persistence to work through his personal challenges and show up, even if it did take some time.
As a child, I'd get up at 5 am on Saturday morning to make sure I was ready for when my dad arrived at 9 am to pick up my siblings and me. He almost never showed up. 40 years later, my Dad and I are doing therapy in public. Both of us addressing our pain and trauma.
